Desc: SHIU Ka-Chun: A Statement Of A Prisoner of Conscience: Directed by Chong Kwan Wong. In 2014, SHIU Ka-Chun, an activist and a social worker, became an advocator of Occupy Central with Peace and Love in a bid to fighting for democracy in Hong Kong but triggered the 79 days of Umbrella Movement where hundreds of thousands of HongKongers participated. Though it could not promote the Hong Kong government to establish universal suffrage without screening, SHIU Ka-Chun hopes to preserve the spirit of Umbrella Movement, thus participating in Legislative Council election in 2016. After becoming a Legislative Councilor, SHIU Ka-Chun faced a trial by Hong Kong government on Umbrella Movement and was sentenced to jail for 8 months. Therefore, this video is a statement by SHIU Ka-Chu as a record of how he preserved the spirit of Umbrella Movement in the issues of grass roots, prisoners' right and social movement.
